Sibling Date Night

Taking a break from the usual Thursday shenanigans with Thursday Club, I decided to have a nice dinner with Manoy, his wife Tina, Papot and Chris.

We trekked over to Charlie's to have some of their famous burgers... and yes, the ever present staple in my "crave list", their fish and chips!

As always with Charlie's, I found myself watching a telenovela on ABS. I was lucky before that I was subjected to the cute Boys over Flowers koreanovela. This time it was Tanging Yaman which I found really horrid, even if the lead, Erich, is a smaller dead-ringer for Isabel Oli. Looking at beautiful girls can only get me so far. (And the kontra-bida is this really horrible-looking hilaw na tisay girl whose only asset really is that she's tall.)

Anyway, we went back to Manoy's house to unwind and have a glass of wine. I turned the TV on and it was on HBO - and they were about to show Run Fatboy Run - which had Simon Pegg of Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead fame and the gorgeous Thandie Newton!

So we stayed on to watch it and I'm glad we did. I found it light, funny and heart-warming - I recommend you see it! I still have a silly grin just thinking about the movie!

I found the poster of the movie on the internet and I just found it so freaking hilarious:

Frustrated Four Eyes

I keep leaving my glasses.

I've been glasses-free all week now and I feel like I'm destroying my eyes. Ugh.

I must wear them soon! I shall not forget them tomorrow, I swear!

Glasses + food = this picture rocks!

Date Night!

I had a nice date night with the parents last night.

It was payday yesterday, and given my new role in the office - I planned a little treat for my parents and myself.

I reserved tickets for the Friday showing of Avatar in 3D. (Yes - I was one of the few who didn't get to see Avatar over the holidays, and I was determined to see it before they stop showing it!) I met up with my parents a good 3 hours before the showing so we can have a nice leisurely dinner. (The movie's 3 hours long and we need to stock up!)

The result? One of the BEST dates I've ever had. It was nice to have had such a relaxing and fun time with my parents. And I enjoyed the movie - it totally didn't feel like 3 hours!

I've been watching Amelie for the past few days, and with this - I am totally in a romantic movie high! (And seriously, everything seems so much prettier in this state! I sleep better too!)

My parents enjoyed themselves very much as well - I woke up to find a really touching SMS from my mom thanking me for the night. Over breakfast this morning we talked about how we should definitely start having these "payday dates" since it was a good bonding experience for the grown-ups in the family :)

Calling all siblings (Manoy, Papot and Joey) - let's make this a bi-monthly date! :)

GAH!

I knew it - I felt like I was missing out on a lot when I started reading the 12th book of the Wheel of Time.

I just realized I didn't read the 11th book. I was too sad about Robert Jordan passing and figured - why bother. Thankfully it looks like my brother has a copy of it in his house.
